One of my favorite palette colors are black and tan.
As I was making them, I realized how much these small collages

With Pinterest I can organize art into various categories. I now have a Pinterest board called "graphically", as well as a board of "art . grid composition", and another named "with symmetry". It's kind of amazing to me how my eye draws me into areas I would not have thought my mind was aware of; and how my eye informs my hand as I create. There's something about symmetry for me. Perhaps it is that part of me, within, that longs for balance in my life.
This blog is my journey in making art, and it suprises me all the time!
Well, these are beauties...all of them. I can see where your heart rests with these beautifully balanced pieces. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteSuch kind words . . thank you!
DeleteFirst, I too notice how much pinterest helps me see my preferences, what I am most drawn to, and how I tend to catagorize things. Secondly, pinterest also has shown me that I can develop a sense of what calls a friends name. So when I see a circle shape in a solidly grounded position in a piece I am pretty sure you will like it.
ReplyDeleteI also think these frames are perfect for these engaging works Jann. Who wouldn't love to have this work gracing their walls!
Yes, yes, and yes Leslie! So interesting how people categorize . . and "solidly grounded" . . so true. Thank you for your lovely comment.
DeleteI love Asian things too and these certainly are inspired by the Orient. Lovely pieces..and the natural frames work well too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo . . thank you for visiting and commenting. As I look at them all together, they really are inspired by the East. I have added an "Eastern inspiration" pinterest board. Thanks much!
DeleteIf I happened to walk into your home I would immediately be drawn to this grouping of your work on the wall. It is indeed intriguing how Pinterest highlights many more interests than we were previously aware of.
ReplyDelete:) Hi Robyn . . so much inspiration on Pinterest . . actually, the above really surprised me . . a few more steps along my exploration road!
DeleteMy favorite colors are black and tan too... I love your collages here.. simply wonderful. It is amazing who much pinterest can reveal about yourself as an artist.. because of the subconscious gut reaction to images.. you will start to notice a trend in what you pin... and discover more and more about yourself that translates into your artwork.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Donna . . you are SO right! . . "subconscious gut reaction to images" . . that's it exactly, and I am starting to notice a trend. It's quite a relief (and helps the "struggle") and so informs my direction.
DeleteJann I was just going through some of my old bookmarks and didn't recognize the name of your blog at first but said out loud "Gorgeous!" when I saw the first image. Interesting reading your thoughts on groupings in Pinterest. I had a similar epiphany when seeing all my work grouped together the first time I had a booth at an art show.
ReplyDeleteHi Crystal . . . Thanks for visiting and commenting!
DeleteBeautiful images. Love the simplicity, the elegance of the black and tan, framed within the light wood. Wishing you a peaceful holiday season and many creative moments throughout 2013!
ReplyDeleteWell hi there, Kelly! Thank you for visiting and your lovely comment. Have been kind of "dry" creatively lately. And wishing you the same in this coming year . . peace and creativity!
